Hey everyone and welcome to Oh Shoot Photography! Thanks for stopping by and learning more about me! Sports have been my life for over 37 years now. I started gymnastics in 2nd grade and went all the way through college (Radford University) ending my gymnastics career being the USA National vault champion in 2000! Although most of my USAG time was consumed with endless gymnastics work outs and training, I also managed to find time to play soccer, basketball, and other various sports as well. My goal in life… to always be able to do a set of 10 pullups.
Born in Iowa, raised in Virginia, I completed my college education at Radford University in May of 2000, moved right out to Colorado after accepting a job as the Assistant Women’s gymnastics coach for the United States Air Force Academy. I remained at the Academy for 11 years and during my time at the Academy, I experienced many tasks including coaching gymnastics, teaching PE courses, having a divisional position of running the cadets aerobic and physical fitness tests. In 2011, I decided to be a stay-at-home mom and left a job I absolutely adored. Was it worth it?!
Heck Yeah!
My husband Gary and I have been happily married for 19 years and have 2 amazing children. Katie, who is currently 18 and attending her first year of college at NC State University in Raleigh, NC. She is a member of the Rifle team at NC State and is currently helping her team break team records! Sam is now a freshman at Pine Creek High School here in Colorado Springs and holds a 4.2 GPA.
He is an avid gymnast and like his mom, most of his free time is spent at Kinetic gymnastics working on earning a college scholarship. His goal in life… to go to the Air Force Academy. Recently he was presented a coin from the superintendent at the Academy, Gen. Richard Clark. Sam looks at his coin on his down days and reminds himself where he wants to go in life and the steps he needs to get there.
My husband Gary has been with the Colorado Springs Police Department for 18 years and is currently a Sergeant. He spends numerous hours working with the community not only keeping people safe but taking the time to work with the numerous people he encounters every day. He’s the only guy that I know that can put a guy behind bars and have him shake hands and thank him. I value his role in our community, and I respect what he does daily. His work is not easy.
We have a golden retriever named Grizzly who is 8 and 2 barn cats to go with our pack, and these cats are spoiled with outdoor barn heating and an occasional visit into the house for lots of love!
I got into photography really when our kids started doing their sporting events. While I was at home, I spent some time going through old photos of college days and realized I didn’t really have many photos of my collegiate experience. What I would give now to look back and have more pictures!!! Photography now has almost become an addiction for me and I find myself in my happiest moments when I’m able to capture those special times for people. It has become my true PASSION. For the first time in my life, I’m doing what I absolutely love to do.
Why should you pick me?
That’s a hard question for me to answer. Mostly because I am quietly humble. Many of my good friends don’t even know about the awards I collected throughout the years. From college awards to job awards. I am a perfectionist at heart. I strive to be the best at what I do. If it’s not right, back to the drawing board to try again. I won’t stop until I get it right. Your time with me is respected.
It’s genuine, fun, to the point, with exceptional results. I feel as if being an athlete for many years has helped me to see movements coming. I know what to expect and when to expect it. It helps me to be in the right place at the right time. Being a gymnast is tough. If you aren’t all in on a particular move, it potentially leads to injury and sometime significant pain! Every move is calculated and planned for.
I believe that skill has carried over into my photography. From capturing people’s expressions and genuineness, to catching the right toss to the hoop. I’m here to make your experience great. I’m here to keep your memories alive for years to come. I want that for you, because I care about you.
"Amazing photos for my daughters basketball team. Holly helped me create lasting memories for all the girls by capturing these priceless moments! If you have a sporting activity you want quality action shots of please check out Oh Shoot Photography. You will not be disappointed!"
